B I O G R A P H Y
Fr. Rolheiser is a priest of the Missionary Oblates of Mary immaculate who grew up on the Canadian prairies. He completed his initial theological studies at the Oblate Scholasticate in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and at Newman Theological College. After obtaining his doctorate in theology at the University of Louvain, Belgium, he taught at Newman for several years and also held the position of Dean of the theology faculty. He has served on the General Administration of the Oblates and is currently President of the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas. Besides contributing numerous articles to learned and popular journals, he writes a weekly newspaper column for more than 65 Catholic papers worldwide. As well, Fr. Ron has written or collaborated on more than ten books, including “The Holy Longingâ€, “Forgotten Among the Liliesâ€, “Against An Infinite Horizonâ€, “The Restless Heart†and “The Shattered Lanternâ€.
His professional memberships have included the Catholic Theological Society of America, the Canadian Theological Society, the Religious Studies Association of Alberta and the board of Louvain Theological and Pastoral Monographs Association. His areas of specialization incorporate systematic theology, philosophy, the theology of Augustine, mysticism and spirituality.
